Following her time at Larry Forgione in New York, France and Los Angeles she also worked at Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot. Guarnaschelli eventually became the head chef at Butter. Guarnaschelli was a guest on Food Network's Iron Chef America where she competed against Cat Cora in the Farmers Market Battle of 2007. She has since appeared as an Iron Chef America judge as well as in the 2011 season of The Next Iron Chef season four where she was the third-place finisher. She was a contestant and won in one episode of Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast. The fourth season of The Next Iron Chef, she was hired as an assistant chef for Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian. She became host of The Food Network's The Cooking Loft With Alex Guarnaschelli in 2008. There, she instructs a small class of students on the best ways to cook classic meals.
